You'd think after 30 years of nonstop ska punk mayhem The Planet Smashers might be showing some signs of slowing down... But you'd be dead wrong. On The Dancefloor is The Planet Smashers' massive TENTH (and arguable best) studio album and it marks a return to the band's roots. Firmly planted in 2Tone era ska, OTD is thirteen massive tracks drenched with the Planet Smashers' trademark up(off)beat sound.
There's love songs, break-up songs, songs about standing up to tyranny, party songs, rebel anthems and songs about just trying to make it through the damn day. No Smashers record would be complete without some special guests and OTD is no exception. Neville Staple (The Specials), Charley 'Aitch' Bembridge (The Selecter) and Sara Johnston (Bran Van 3000) lend their exceptional talents to a couple seriously awesome songs. And the stunning and complex album artwork was done by the insanely awesome Scorpion Dagger. The world might be a dumpster fire at the moment but The Planet Smashers remain an enduring pillar of positivity in the face of constant negativity. We'll see you on the dancefloor.
